Our Home!

So here is some pictures of our place that everyone has been asking about. These pictures i took when i came here in August to visit Brandon, so things do look a lot different and more decorated now that I'm here :) I'll put up more later! This is just very time consuming and get boring :)

The first set of pictures is a 369 view of our bathroom, thank goodness for a lot of counter space!

This set of pictures is a 360 view of our living room. Again....a lot of things have changed since I've been here! Brandon is not good with the decorating :)

RAIN!

So after finally getting use to it not raining here. It finally rained here for the first time since i've been here. Pretty nice to go without rain for 3 weeks. But than again, it was nice to have a change in the weather and at least it didn't snow, so i can't complain that much.

Nothing too new and exciting has been going on in the South, but....I did get that job at La Vida Spa. YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!! It will be so nice to finally get back to work and be busy again. I went in on Monday to the spa to pick up a bunch of paper work that i needed to fill out. And this Sunday, the 1st there is a staff meeting. The spa i will be working at is brand new and will just be opening on the 5th of February so its nice to know that I'm not the only newbie there. Sunday is just a gathering so all the different staff and people working at the spa can get together and meet each other before the big opening day. So this next week is going to be pretty busy for me. A lot of training and getting to know how the spa works. I think Brandon is just ready for me to finally be doing something other than staying at home and watching Dr.Phil and Soap operas all day, haha! Although he can't complain too much since i do have dinner ready for him when he gets home from school :)

I'll keep everyone posted on how the first week at the spa goes!! I'm sure I'll love it. At least it's something different than retail. I have had my fair share of folding clothes and picking up fitting rooms.

IT SNOWED!!! What the heck!

So I had a second interview yesterday with La Vida Spa and it went GREAT!! I'm pretty sure i got the position, but the manager i met with said she would contact me by friday to let me know forsure. I will just be happy when i am finally back to work. It's nice to have a little down time, but i have always been so use to being busy and on the go its hard to have so much free time.

As odd as it is, yesterday it snowed here. I was hoping i was leaving the cold blizzard like weather for some sunshine, but it has seemed to follow me all the way across the United States. Thank goodness it wasnt very much snow though, it was just a light dusting. But let me tell you....these North Carolinians have no idea how to drive in the little snow they get. The roads were clear as good be and all the schools here were cancelled, and even Wake Forest University was 2 hours late. I don't think they would stand a chance in a Washington snow storm, haha!

School is in full force for Brandon and still busy as ever. Since he did so well last semester and is ranked pretty high in his class he has been thinking about possibily transfering to a different school next year that is ranked better than Wake and that is better known. He is planning on going to talk with some professors and get some insight and see what there thoughts are on transfering. So we will see....who knows where i'll be next year, all i know is i'm not planning on making a drive back to Washington anytime soon, i'll fly, but no driving that far for awhile. He has tossed around the idea of Vanderbilt, which is in Nashville, Tennesse, or even stay in North Carolina and go to Duke, or even Virginia. He has a lot to think about and will definetly not be making any of these decisions without talking to me about them first :)

So as everyone in Washington has been enjoying sunshine, i have been freezing down here in the South, just doesnt seem right! I'm ready for some sunshine and to pull out the shorts and tank tops!

Gym Rats

So i'm officially becoming a gym rat. Brandon got both of us a membership to Gold's gym which is right down the street from us and we go every night around 7pm. Let me tell you....my body hasnt been this sore in a long time. It feels good to finally be getting into shape though. Thank goodness i've got him to push me every night to get my butt out that door to go. :) Today i had a meeting with a personal trainer and had me do some exercises that my body didn't like, haha! Oh man am i going to be feeling it tomorrow!

Brandon is still keeping busy with school. He requested a transcript today and his class ranking. He is ranked 14 out of 147 in his class. He's way to dang smart for me. He is very happy and is hoping that with his good grades last semester and a good ranking that he will be able to find a good paying internship this summer. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

So the job search continues. I have an interview next week with one lady. I'm not sure exactly what day yet though. She is currently in Michigan right now for work and said she would e-mail me back and set up a time and day. She complimented my resume though and said it looked really good, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Still waiting to hear back from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. I e-mailed the HR lady today and got an automated response back by e-mail saying she was out of town. Hopefully she gets back to me soon, as i am most interesting in any of those jobs at the hospital, and they all pay well too, which is always a bonus! :)

Still waiting to hear if i have any visitors wanting to come any time soon, haha! Grandpa and Grandma Pike are saying they might make there way over here sometime in March or so as they are planning a big road trip. My doors always open :)

Job Searching

So today was the start of my job searching! I applied for three different posistions at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center which is one of the local hospitals around here. None of these postitions are PTA positions as i have lots and lots of studying that I need to do before i take my state licensure exam and can practice PTA as well as save some money to pay for this pricey exam! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one of those postitions pulls through for me. I think if i'm able to get a job in the hospital its a good way to get my foot in the door once i do take my licensure exam.

Brandon started school today and of course is spending every sunshine hour in the library when he is not in class. He'll be home a little after five tonight and than after that we are going to Gold's Gym and signing up for gym membership. Thank goodness i have him around to help push me to get motivated to work out.

Today i went to the DMV and didnt end up taking my written driving exam. The line was so long it was about out the door and the lady i talked to told me that i needed a million pieces of paper and information to even apply for a NC license and suggested that i come back later in the week, earlier in the morning. I'm thinking i'll go in Wednesday.

I'll do my best to post picts as soon as possible from our road trip :)

Getting Settled In

After 5 days on the road and 4 nights in motels, Brandon and I finally arrived home in Winston-Salem, NC on Wed the 7th around 5pm. It was a l...o...n....g 5 days on the road but our travels went very smooth so we have much of no complaints! We were origianally planning on taking I-40 all the way across which cuts through Flagstaff, AZ and Albaquerque, NM but with Flagstaff getting snow we thought it would be better to cut down further south and take I-10 through those few states.

I can now truly say after traveling through quit a few states tat i would never want to find myself living in New Mexico, Texas, West Oklahoma and Arkansas. What is known as mountains to people in those states seem more like hills to us being from the great Northwest! Since we made good timing with the drive back to North Carolina, Brandon and I were able to spend a whole day in Memphis, TN! I think we were both happy to be able to have some fun time since we were spending most of our days driving and annoying eachother in a car. Memphis, TN is amazing! We did some sight seeing, walked down Beale street which is known for the great live music and delicious BBQ food and than later that night we went to a Memphis Grizzlies game. We were hoping we could go to Graceland and see Elvis' house but there was just so much to do and not enough time!

We are both happy be in North Carolina and not on the road anymore! Brandon starts school again on Monday and keeps saying how much he isnt ready to go back. He got his grades from last semester and did AMAZING!! He stayed in the top 2/3rds percent of his class and is very happy that all his hard work is paying off. I on the other hand am starting the great job search monday as well as spending a lot of time at the DMV on monday with getting my car licensed and registered in the state of NC as well as getting a NC drivers license, which means....i have to take a written drivers test, YIKES!!! I'll keep you posted on how that written drivers test goes :)

I don't know about Brandon, but I am more than ready to already have family and friends visit. So if anyone wants to get away and come to the South East, our door is always open :)
